It contains somatoefferent and visceroefferent fibers and controls most of the transverse muscles of the eye, with the exception of the superior oblique and lateral rectus muscles.)
Along with the trochlear and abducens nerves, it is therefore largely responsible for the movements of the eye.
The chip serves to stabilize the 3rd cranial nerve N.oculomotorius and to support it with all its functions.
