Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body. It is bundled into fibres that are extremely stable and hardly stretchable. The body needs these firm collagen fibres to stabilise bones, cartilage, tendons, teeth and even the skin. Collagen makes up around 60 % of the connective tissue in our skin.
However, these firm collagen fibres are not enough to make our skin supple. Elasticity is only created by interweaving with stretchable elastin fibres. This network of collagen and elastin fibres is embedded in a gel-like base substance containing hyaluronic acid. This substance has a very high moisture-binding capacity and helps the skin to retain its volume. The more strands and fibres give our skin support, the firmer it is.
From the age of around 30, the body’s own production of collagen and elastin decreases (collagen approx. 1 % annually) – with various consequences for the skin: the connective tissue becomes weaker and the skin loses volume. Elasticity, radiance and resistance decrease and at the same time wrinkles deepen.
The chip is designed to help support collagen and elastin production.
