EPI – Epiphysis

The pineal gland is only a few millimetres in size, but it controls important processes in the human body. With the help of the hormone melatonin, the pineal gland controls the human internal clock and thus the circadian rhythm. Melatonin also plays an important role for the immune system and is therefore of particular interest for patients suffering from autoimmune diseases.
