The term glaucoma summarizes various eye diseases in which the optic nerve is damaged. This causes the field of view to have increasingly large gaps. The visual field is the range of vision that can be perceived without moving the eyes.

The chip is designed to help drain aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye and support blood flow to the optic nerve head.
