The glossopharyngeal nerve (tongue pharyngeal nerve) is the IX cranial nerve. It is therefore a complex cranial nerve involved in vegetative, sensory and gustatory supply.
The failure of the nerve eliminates the sensory innervation of the pharynx, so that the gag reflex can no longer be triggered. Another characteristic is the lack of taste sensation in the posterior third of the tongue as well as the deviation of the soft palate to the healthy side. Failure of the rami pharyngei also results in ingested food frequently exiting through the nose.
Common failure of the nerve with the vagus nerve occurs, for example, in Avellis-Longhi syndrome.
The chip serves to stabilize the 9th cranial nerve N. Glossopharyngeus and to support it with all its functions
