The facial nerve is the VII cranial nerve. It carries specifically visceroefferent (motor) as well as generally visceroefferent (parasympathetic) and specifically visceroafferent (gustatory) fibers.
It is involved in the innervation of striated mimic muscles, the lacrimal gland, the submandibular and sublingual gland, and in the transmission of gustatory information.
The chip serves to stabilize the 7th cranial nerve N.Facialis and to support it with all its functions.
